Regarding the longer 3 foot USB cable

The second end only needs to be plugged in under very rare circumstances to deliver extra power.
For example, if you are connecting to an 802.11b only signal at maximum range in an area with lots of interference and you are using an upgraded antenna, BearExtender n3 can benefit by using the extra power.
When to plug in the second USB cable
- If BearExtender n3 keeps disconnecting and reconnecting to a network with low signal strength
- If BearExtender n3’s light turns off entirely and then resumes blinking while scanning for networks
If you are unable to connect the second USB cable because you are using an older PowerBook, MacBook Pro, or other Mac model with USB ports on opposite ends of the computer, please contact us regarding a short USB extension cable.
